The Bearcats were back in action this past weekend as all four teams returned from a three week break. The men’s and women’s volleyball teams visited Capilano University and put up a strong fight. The men’s team took the top-ranked Blues to a fifth set on Saturday, with the Blues coming out on top. The women’s team saw their five game winning streak come to an end, but they are inching closer to clinching a playoff berth.
The men’s and women’s basketball teams hosted Capilano over the weekend. Capilano got the best of both teams, but there were definitely some bright spots. The women’s team welcomed newcomer Lauren Janzen, who provides experience and a strong skill set that will help the Bearcats make a playoff push. The men’s team battled injuries over the weekend, leading to more opportunities for other players. Second year guard Ethan Sorensen recorded a season-high 17 points.
There are more games this weekend as the volleyball teams head to the island to take on the VIU Mariners, while the basketball teams will host the Langara Falcons.
