All four Bearcats teams were in action this past weekend, which saw some victories and a late game winning shot. Women’s volleyball won for the first time ever at VIU on Friday night in a five-set thriller. The Mariners won on Saturday night, but our women’s team has all but locked up a playoff spot. The men’s team dropped both games at VIU over the weekend, but have important games coming up this weekend that will decide their fate.
The women’s basketball team split with Langara in what were two close contests. Anna Kamerman hit the game winner with four seconds left on Friday night to give the Bearcats a 47-46 win. The men’s basketball team fell to Langara both nights as the Falcons offense was just too much to handle.
There are no games this upcoming weekend at Columbia Place. The volleyball teams will be in Cranbrook as they take on the COTR Avalanche. The Avalanche are two games ahead of our men’s team in the standings so this weekend will likely be a deciding factor of whether they will make the playoffs or not. The basketball teams head to the island to take on the VIU Mariners.
Be sure to watch the games online and support our athletes. You can find the link to the games on the CBC website, as well as the PacWest BC website.
