The Bearcats are halfway through the 2017-2018 season so let’s take a moment to reflect back on the last few months of games. There were many high and lows but all four teams are still in contention for a playoff spot.
The women’s volleyball team is the hottest team in the PacWest and they are currently riding a five-game winning streak. Despite injuries to three key players, the team has rallied together and hope to have a healthier roster in the new year. The men’s volleyball team were also hit by the injury bug as they lost Ben Smith early in the season. They are looking forward to his return in the new year as they make a playoff push. The men’s and women’s volleyball teams start 2018 off with six games on the road before returning home on January 26 when they take on the Douglas Royals.
The men’s and women’s basketball teams open up the new year with two games against the Capilano Blues, who gave our Bearcats some trouble a couple of weeks ago. Both teams will be ready for the challenge and look to come out strong against a tough opponent. The men’s basketball team is still searching for their first win of the season as they hope to return to preseason form where they finished with an 8-6 record. The women’s basketball team have benefited from having key players return from internship this season and are hoping that experience will pay dividends as the season progresses.
