Before coming to Quest, I really struggled with hearing the voice of God. I had the limiting belief that God only spoke to people audibly, as is the case in a few instances throughout the Bible. It has been wonderful to discover a broader perspective during my time in Quest, and to see that God truly speaks and does so in an amazing variety of ways. God has taught me to listen for Him in all things, for He is the creator of all things.
Psalm 19:1-2 says, “The heavens declare the glory of God, the skies proclaim his handiwork. Day after day they pour fourth speech; night after night they make him known”. Furthermore, in Romans 1:20, Paul declares that “Through everything God made, humanity can clearly see his invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature”.
I have by no means mastered the art of hearing God and discerning His will, but God has shown me through my time in Quest that He does speak, and that He delights in doing so. God declares that He “will guide you down the best path for your life” (Psalm 32:8), and Jesus tells us that He has come “so that we may have life, and have it to the full” (John 10:10). For me, Quest has been a part of living life to the full. It has inspired and taught me to journey alongside others in pursuing the Kingdom of God – and ultimately, to listen for the King!
